On this day July 4th, as we celebrate our country's independence, I hope that our leaders of today can take a lesson from history as we act to "liberate" other nations throughout the world. Our founding fathers led a revolution of farming men who believed in preserving their way of life. Although these men were outnumbered, poorly organized, and out gunned they took on the occupation of the land they strongly believed was theirs. They fought with passion against outrageous odds with unconventional tactics. They believed that this dream of America was their God given right. This strong believe gained allies from this superpower's enemies and together they conquered Tyranny.
Today America stands, with a jobless rate of soon to be 10% when communist nations throughout the globe have taken our industries. We celebrate while recently declared criminal billionaires are protected in other countries after stealing the money our parents entrusted within their company walls to provide for our futures. Gazing at a flag who’s meaning is forgotten by so many of the people who make the decision to send our brothers and sisters to be carried back home covered by it.
So celebrate the terrorism that was created 200 plus years ago to gain our freedom, but don't rejoice and relax, because unfortunately for this superpower, history does repeat itself and I fear as an American, this may be one of our last to celebrate as an all powerful nation.
